How do I configure Webroot for GuardedID® compatibility?
print icon

By default, Webroot offers some level of keystroke protection for native desktop applications but does not protect "Universal" apps downloaded from the Microsoft Store, such as Microsoft Edge, Mail, and Cortana.

For this reason, GuardedID will supplement Webroot by protecting these "Universal" apps downloaded from the Microsoft Store. When this happens, the GuardedID icon will not blink when you are typing in native desktop applications, and GuardedID's CryptoColor/NoClickjack extension will pause itself in browsers such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Internet Explorer. Additionally, hovering your cursor over the GuardedID icon will show a message such as "Keystroke protection is deferred to other security software".

If you would prefer to have GuardedID protect your keystrokes in native desktop applications instead of Webroot, then you must disable Webroot's "Identity Shield" setting by following the steps below:

  1. Right-click the Webroot icon in your Windows taskbar, then select "View Status":
  2. Click the settings icon next to "Identity Protection":
  3. Toggle the "Identity Shield" switch to the "Off" position:
  4. Restart your PC.
